Product Description
There is Always a Price to Pay

So Darius warned her when she accepted a position with his traveling troupe. And gazing mesmerized at the merciless slash of his mouth, the implacable resolve on his face, the soulless emptiness of his black eyes, Tempest was afraid to ask what it was.

She had always been different, apart from others. From the moment his arms closed around her, enveloping her in a sorcerer's spell, Darius seemed to understand her unique gifts. But did his kiss offer the love and belonging she sought, or a danger more potent than his own panthers?

Somewhere deep inside herself, Tempest realized she knew the answer. She had no choice but to accept the velvet stroke of his tongue, submit to the white-hot heat piercing her skin, welcome an erotic pleasure like no other...

4 out of 5 stars Good story   November 21, 2008
I enjoyed reading the story, and Tempest is one of my favorite female characters. The story has a nice twist in that Darius did not quite understand what comes with having a lifemate, as he grew up separate from the Carpathian community (where such knowledge is common). As a result, he worried that he was "turning" as he wanted to do things with Tempest that he should not. The development of this concept could have been better, and Darius' use of endearments ("honey", "baby") seems totally out of character as it is too modern for his background. The presence of his family and their interaction with the couple is a very welcome change, since many of the other books treat characters outside of the primary couple very superficially. Overall, it is an enjoyable read.

2 out of 5 stars Same story, different names   September 8, 2008
I really wish that the author would come up with a new story line. As it is this series seems to be pretty much the same story told over and over again only with slightly different locations and character names. I am truly sick of the whole dominant male Carpathian who wants to rule over the woman while the woman refuses to be dominated. I get it. What amazes me about the various reviews that I read about this book is that no one was bothered by just how stupid Tempest is. Over and over again I was amazed at her general stupidity. She constantly puts herself in danger in order to prove that she won't allow some man to rule over her life. Now don't get me wrong I am a strong woman who is not about to let some man rule me but come on, at least I have enough common sense to not put myself in danger in order to prove that I control my life. Of course she puts herself in danger in order to prove that she doesn't need Darius but then needs him to save her butt. The whole stupidity aspect is something that Ms Feehan seems to out into every female character she writes about in this series but Tempest definitely is the most unintelligent one of the bunch.

Please Ms Feehan, write something NEW. Give us some intelligent females who don't freak out over everything and don't put themselves in danger just to prove that they don't need the man.

4 out of 5 stars My Favourite   January 26, 2008

Of all the 'Dark' books I've read, this has to be my favourite. I will not review this novel, since it's been done many times.

I loved Darius, it simple as that! And to think I hesitated about getting this book. After the first few pages, I was caught in the story.
First you have to read 'Dark Challenge' to get to know and understand Darius and why he is the way he is.
Darius falls for the fiery Tempest, almost at first sight and is determined she would be his. Of course, it irritated me when he claimed her immediately without her knowledge, but then this is a 'Dark' book. I love his protectiveness and the lengths he goes to keep her safe. (Yes,yes,I know all the Dark ones are like that:) And his tender amusement at her absolute non-existant sense of direction. Loved those parts.

Okay, the plots are almost repetitive and the love scenes are done in a similar style, but then all her book in this series are. So you must bear this in mind when getting the 'Dark' books.
The only way I could get through reading CF 'dark series'(since I got all the books first) was to read them two at a time, so they don't feel so repetitive, and you can enjoy them.
A star less for all that nauseating endearments. Didn't like it a bit.

5 out of 5 stars Paranormal Romance   January 2, 2008
Christine Feehan did her usual outstanding job. She manages to turn 'boy meets girl' into something magical every time. Although each is a stand alone - I am making a point of reading them in order [after I found the first one I picked up was #15] and I'm finding them more enjoyable that way. Like any good author we always get a 'tease' of upcoming characters within the current story.

5 out of 5 stars hot read   August 5, 2007
I read this a few years back, and it was my first out of this series!! This is by far the hottest I have read by Christine Feehan!! If this helps this is the only one that I have kept as a keeper!! I have read most of the series except the most recent ones which have come out in the last couple of years!!
